Partners Michael Striegel and Joel Agacki bring the best of extensive, nationally garnered educational and professional experience to every project. After completing their education at Columbia University in the prestigious Graduate School of Architecture and Planning, each spent several years as senior designers with leading architecture firms in Chicago, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New York and Seattle prior to forming Striegel-Agacki Studio. Consequently, genuinely distinctive solutions differentiate their work among others, made exceptional by the solely unique perspective shared between the Los Angeles - Milwaukee collaboration.

Striegel-Agacki Studio prides itself on the thoughtfulness and attentiveness of its founders. As such, both partners direct and personal involvement with each client and project is guaranteed from start to finish. Together, they offer over twenty years of experience providing a full range of services from planning, to design and development, construction documents and contract administration while executing successful projects varying widely in type and scale from ecumenical to residential.

Sustainability is more than a buzzword at Striegel-Agacki Studio. For the Studio, green building starts with a site specific design. Thoughtful, conceptual directions like timing a project relative to solar orientation and the passing day offer a smart, no-cost route to sustainable architecture. As each client, project and site has different demands, Striegel-Agacki Studio offers current knowledge of the sourcing and implementation of many green products and systems that use passive building strategies as a solid foundation.

Combined, the pair's work has been recognized by and featured in publications such as Art Forum, Architectural Record, Better Homes & Gardens, Dwell and Metropolitan Home, and by organizations such as the Chicago Architecture Club, the University of British Columbia, AIA Los Angeles Next LA Young Architects Forum and the esteemed Graham Foundation in Chicago, Illinois. The partnership has garnered numerous winning entries in international design competitions including the 13 Acres Design Competition, and the prestigious Burnham Prize Competition. Projects in which they shared involvement have won several regional AIA awards.

The environment of New York City served as the catalyst for the generation of their partnership, as well as the way both conceive of architecture as benefiting from educational and cultural cross-pollination. Striegel-Agacki Studio's intimacy with academia has continued, as both partners have served as faculty or guest critics at Columbia University, the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Otis College of Art and Design, SCI-Arc, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and UCLA.
